The European Commission recently published Regulation No. 191/2010 fixing the import duties on husked rice falling within CN code 1006.20 and Regulation No. 192/2010 fixing import duties on semi-milled and wholly milled rice falling within CN Code 1006.30.
Husked Rice
The Commission noted that import licenses were issued in respect of 106,643 tonnes of husked rice in the period 1 September 2009 - 28 February 2010. They Commission believed it necessary to adjust the import duty for husked rice.
The new rate of duty is EUR 30 per tonne.
Please note that this applies to husked rice and not to Basmati rice.
Semi-Milled and Wholly Milled Rice
The Commission noted that import licenses were issued in respect of 207,074 tonnes of semi and wholly-milled rice in the period 1 September 2009 - 28 February 2010. They Commission believed it necessary to adjust the import duty for husked rice.
The new rate of duty is EUR 175 per tonne.
