Latest Anti-Dumping Duty News: Weedkiller & Ironing Boards | Print |

The European Commission has recently been very active in the area of Anti-Dumping Duty on goods originating in the Far East (China in particular- see Article "Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty on Goods Originating from China" on the International Trade Solutions Website). This article will briefly outline two cases, one where anti-dumping duty has been suspended and one where a new exporter review has been instigated in the case of Chinese originating ironing boards.

Duty Suspension of Glyophosphate (Weedkiller)

The European Commission has suspended anti-dumping duty on imports of glyophosphate from China and imports consigned from Malaysia and Taiwan for a nine-month period with effect from 16 May 2009 (Commission Decision 2009/383/EC). Glysophate is commonly used as an active ingredient in weedkiller.

The product concerned is classified within the following commodity codes-

2931 0095 81

2931 0095 82

New Exporter Review- Chinese Ironing Boards

A new exporter review of the Chinese company Greenwood Houseware (Zuhai Ltd) has been initiated (Council Regulation (EC) 356/2009). Anti-Dumping duty will not apply to imports from this supplier during the registration period of nine months. However, imports of the products in question are being registered to enable the retrospective collection of Anti-Dumping Duty should the review conclude they are dumping.

The products in question are classified under the commodity codes:

3924 9090 10
4421 9098 10
7323 9390 10
7323 9991 10
7323 9999 10
8516 7970 10
8516 9000 51
