Poultry Imports from Brazil & Thailand

21 December 2012

The EU has modified its concessions with Brazil and Thailand that allows for the importation of certain poultry products free of duty or at a reduced rate. Details of these concessions are set out in EU Regulation 1218/2012.

The measures focus on separating Brazilian and Thai quota levels and extending the scope of provisions to various processed products.  There are some significant problems with the pre-existing measures and unfortunately the EU has failed to address these as part of these modifications.
