Customs Valuation of Fruit & Vegetables: New Customs Procedure Code

08 July 2013

Importers using the Standard Import Value (SIV) to determine the customs value of fruit and vegetables will need to instruct their freight forwarders to use the new Customs Procedure Code (CPC) 40.00.E02 from 1 September 2013.

Commission Regulation 543/11 contains details on the entry price system and methods of valuation to be used to determine the import value of certain fruit and vegetables.  These methods may assist importers who may not be aware of the price at time of import.

The traditional methods of customs valuation are also available and so we would encourage fruit and vegetable importers to carry out a proper analysis to determine the most advantageous manner to value these imports.
